Air New Zealand pax up 2% in Apr-2012, single-digit yield improvement

Air New Zealand passenger numbers up 1.8% - traffic highlights for Apr-2012:

  • Passenger numbers: 1.0 million, +1.8% year-on-year;
    • Short-haul: 911,000, +1.5%;
      • Domestic: 680,000, +0.6%;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 230,000, +4.0%;
    • Long-haul: 113,000, +4.4%;
  • Passenger load factor: 83%, +0.7 ppt;
    • Short-haul: 83.6%, +1.6 ppts;
      • Domestic: 83.3%, +1.2 ppts;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 83.7%, +1.7 ppts;
    • Long-haul: 82.4%, -0.1 ppt;

Air New Zealand: "Group-wide yields for the financial year to date were up 3.5% on the same period last year. Compared to Apr-2011, year to date Short Haul yields were up 1.5%. Long Haul yields were up by 3.9%. Removing the impact of foreign exchange, Group-wide yields were up 5.3%." Source: Company statement, 24-May-2012.
