Air Malawi enters liquidation, partner sought for recapitalisation

Air Malawi was placed into voluntary liquidation by Malawi's Government after two failed restructuring projects, according to reports from Malawi Today. The airline's assets will be transferred to a new company under the same name. The Government plans to settle the airline's debts and recapitalise the company by engaging a strategic equity partner. 11 local and international companies have been shortlisted as potential partners, comprising Africa Star Airways, Air Express, Alpha and Omega Duty Free Shops, CDH, Global Airlines, Jetlink Airways, Mpatsa Holdings, Comair (South Africa), Fly Africa, Ethiopian Airlines and Globe Business Network.
