AIPA: Badgerys Creek Airport could enhance the 'very capital intensive' Australian airline industry

Australian and International Pilots Association (AIPA) president Nathan Safe, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, stated (08-Aug-2014) the proposed Western Sydney Airport project will enhance the performance of Australian carriers. Mr Safe highlighted the airline industry is "very capital intensive", noting the financial losses sustained by Qantas and Virgin Australia during the year. Mr Safe stated the Australian aviation industry will require well equipped infrastructure to support it's productivity.
