AEA airlines report fall in Aug-2009 traffic

Association of European Airlines (AEA) reports (09-Oct-2009) the following traffic highlights for its member airlines in Aug-2009:

  • Passenger numbers: 31.0 million, -3.5% year-on-year;
    • Europe: 23.1 million, -4.4%;
    • North Africa: 487,900, +3.2%;
    • Middle East: 990,000, +10.5%;
    • North Atlantic: 2.9 million, -2.9%;
    • Mid Atlantic: 591,100, -4.0%;
    • South Atlantic: 481,100, -7.7%;
    • Sub Saharan Africa: 819,900, +7.4%;
    • Asia Pacific: 1.7 million, -3.7%;
  • Load factor: 82.0%, +1.0 ppt;
    • Europe: 75.6%, +1.8 ppt;
    • North Africa: 73.8%, -5.3 ppts;
    • Middle East: 78.6%, -2.8 ppts;
    • North Atlantic: 89.0%, +2.3 ppts;
    • Mid Atlantic: 84.4%, -1.0 ppt;
    • South Atlantic: 79.8%, -3.9 ppts;
    • Sub Saharan Africa: 82.5%, -1.4 ppt;
    • Asia Pacific: 85.2%, +2.1 ppts;
  • Cargo traffic (FTKs): -15.1%;
    • Europe: -13.1%;
    • North Africa: +29.0%;
    • Middle East: +17.7%;
    • North Atlantic: -14.8%;
    • Mid Atlantic: +4.7%;
    • South Atlantic: -9.8%;
