AEA airlines report 3.4% increase in pax in May-2010

Association of European Airlines (AEA) reports (08-Jul-2010) the following traffic highlights for its member airlines in May-2010:

  • Passenger numbers: 30.0 million, +3.4% year-on-year;
    • Domestic: 8.1 million, +1.0%;
    • Europe: 23.2 million, +2.9%;
    • North Africa: 418,800, +9.3%;
    • Middle East: 800,000, +9.6%;
    • North Atlantic: 2.4 million, +0.7%;
    • Mid-Atlantic: 504,700, +8.6%;
    • South Atlantic: 457,300, +17.9%;
    • Sub-Saharan Africa: 641,800, +4.7%;
    • Asia Pacific: 1.4 million, +6.3%;
  • Load factor: 76.2%, +3.1 ppts;
    • Domestic: 68.1%, +1.3 ppt;
    • Europe: 70.8%, +2.5 ppts;
    • North Africa: 66.1%, +4.3 ppts;
    • Middle East: 66.4%, +3.2 ppts;
    • North Atlantic: 84.5%, +3.2 ppts;
    • Mid-Atlantic: 80.0%, +2.3 ppts;
    • South Atlantic: 82.0%, +8.4 ppts;
    • Sub-Saharan Africa: 70.1%, -2.3 ppts;
    • Asia Pacific: 78.1%, +4.5 ppts. [more]

Association of European Airlines: "The outlook for June, derived from weekly data, indicates a passenger market growth of about 8%, driven largely by Far Eastern traffic. Should it be confirmed by the final monthly data, this would be the first sign that the sector has recovered to pre-recession levels," Association statement. Source: AEA, 08-Jul-2010.
