Temporary terminal closure

Direct News Source

The Gold Coast Airport terminal will be temporarily closed from Friday 10 April in response to the suspension of regular commercial passenger services to the region. The last Qantas and Virgin flights departed the Gold Coast on Thursday 9 April.

The terminal has been open a reduced number of hours since 1 April, accommodating just a few flights a week. This has followed travel restrictions, reductions to airline services and changes to travel behaviour relating to COVID-19.

Hours of operation for the runway and associated airfield operations remain unchanged for general aviation and other activities.

Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer Marion Charlton said the terminal would re-open when regular passenger flights recommenced.

"The aviation industry is at the front line of this crisis, with passenger numbers falling steadily since the beginning of March," she said.

"We will continue to work closely with our partners throughout this challenging time.

"Together, we will be ready to return to normal operations as soon as regular passenger flights are reinstated."

Passengers should stay in contact with their airline regarding travel plans.
