Swissport commences Qantas Group ground services in Launceston

Swissport Senior Vice President Pacific Rob D'Alessio said: "We are proud to expand our partnership with the Qantas Group and look forward to delivering in Launceston the safety, service, efficiency and quality the Group has come to expect from Swissport."

Swissport will provide full ground services for an average of 68 flights per week for Jetstar Airbus 320 and Airbus 321 operations and QantasLink Dash 8 operations.

The new contract complements Swissport's existing freight operations in Launceston.

Launceston Airport is the second-busiest airport in Tasmania for passengers and provides the main aviation hub for Northern Tasmania. Almost 1.4 million passengers passed through the airport in the financial year 2019 and forecasts indicate this will increase to nearly 2.5 million passengers by 2040.

In 2019, Swissport International AG provided best-in-class airport ground services for some 265 million airline passengers and handled roughly 4.6 million tons of air freight in 115 cargo warehouses worldwide. Several of its warehouses have been certified for pharmaceutical logistics by IATA's CEIV. The world's leader in airport ground services and air cargo handling, with 64,000 employees, achieved consolidated operating revenue of 2.99 billion euros in 2018. At the end of December 2019, Swissport was active at 300 airports in 47 countries on six continents.
