Pieter Elbers appointed President and CEO of KLM, replacing Camiel Eurlings.

15-Oct-2014 KLM Royal Dutch Airlines announces that Pieter Elbers has been appointed by the KLM Supervisory Board as President and Chief Executive Officer of KLM, replacing Camiel Eurlings.

In view of the expiry of his current term in April 2015, Camiel Eurlings has decided in joint consultation with the KLM Supervisory Board to withdraw with immediate effect as President and CEO in order to pave the way for his successor.

BIOGRAPHY - Pieter Elbers

Pieter Elbers (44), President and CEO of KLM, started his career at KLM in 1992 and held until today the position of Chief Operating Officer and deputy CEO of KLM. He is a member of KLM's statutory Board of Managing Directors since April 2012.

His previous positions at KLM include SVP Network & Alliances, General Manager KLM Japan & Korea and General Manager KLM Mediterranean.

He is a member of the Supervisory Boards of Kenya Airways and Transavia Airlines B.V. (Transavia Netherlands).

He is a member of the Advisory Board of The National Aerospace Laboratory of the Netherlands (NLR), the International Advisory Board of International Institute of Air & Space Law (IIASL), College Dutch Aerospace/"Lucht- en Ruimtevaart Nederland" (LRN).

Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij NV maakt bekend dat drs. ing. Pieter Elbers is benoemd tot president-directeur door de KLM Raad van Commissarissen als opvolger van ir. Camiel M.P.S. Eurlings.
"De Raad van Commissarissen wil graag de heer Eurlings bedanken voor zijn inzet gedurende de vier jaar dat hij werkzaam is geweest bij KLM. Wij wensen de heer Elbers succes met deze uitdagende nieuwe positie." ir. drs Hans N.J. Smits, voorzitter van de KLM Raad van Commissarissen.

In de gesprekken in het kader van het aflopen van zijn huidige benoemingstermijn in april 2015, hebben de heer Eurlings en de KLM Raad van Commissarissen gezamenlijk besloten dat hij per direct zal terugtreden als president-directeur en nu al ruimte maakt voor zijn opvolger.

Eerder bekleedde hij de posities van SVP Netwerk & Allianties, General Manager KLM Japan & Korea en General Manager KLM Mediterranean.

Pieter Elbers is lid van de Raad van Commissarissen van Kenya Airways en Transavia Airlines B.V.

Hij is lid van de Adviesraad van het Nationaal Lucht- en Ruimtevaartlaboratorium (NLR), lid van de Raad van Advies van het International Institute of Air & Space Law, en lid van het College Lucht- en Ruimtevaart Nederland (LRN).
