Melbourne Airport’s November passenger traffic results
19-Dec-2014 Melbourne Airport achieved 10 per cent growth in international passengers compared to the same period last year, to reach 662,735 passengers. Melbourne Airport CEO, Mr Chris Woodruff, said international passengers reached the milestone 8 million in a 12 month period for the first time during the month. "Victorians and visitors alike are taking advantage of the increased choice and convenience that new direct services are delivering," said Mr Woodruff. "In November, solid growth in US passport holders followed the introduction of United Airlines' new direct Melbourne-Los Angeles service in late October. And since Jetstar introduced the first direct Melbourne-Japan service in more than five years, we've seen more than 60 per cent monthly growth in Japanese passport holders." November was another record month for capital investment with more than $96 million reinvested on transformational projects including: a new Airport Drive connecting the airport to the M80 Ring Road; a new domestic terminal and transport hub; a tri-generation energy plant; expansion and upgrade of international arrivals; and new freight and logistics warehouses.
