Gulf Air and SpiceJet Sign MoU to Explore Greater Cooperation

• The two airlines to look at interline and codeshare operations between and beyond hubs
• Coordinated cargo services in India and Bahrain, engineering, security services and pilot training
• Partnership to help both airlines expand reach

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and SpiceJet, India's favourite carrier, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore greater cooperation between the two airlines including an interline and codeshare agreement, coordinated cargo services, engineering services and pilot training. The MoU was signed by Mr. Krešimir Kučko, Gulf Air's Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director at SpiceJet.

Besides looking at a codeshare and interline agreement, the scope of the MoU includes the two airlines exploring growth opportunities beyond network expansion by leveraging each other's strengths. Gulf Air and SpiceJet will look at collaborating in the field of pilot training to nurture talent in order to deliver the finest resources for both the airlines. The airlines will also engage and collaborate to enhance their respective cargo and engineering services. The signing of this MOU between the two carriers aims at initiation of collaboration between the two carriers, and further strengthening the strong ties between India and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Mr. Krešimir Kučko, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Air said: "This is a historic event for both Gulf Air and SpiceJet as we strengthen commercial ties between the two carriers; creating more choices for our valued passengers to explore new cities across our networks. Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet said, "I am extremely happy at the signing of this MoU and the beginning of this new partnership between SpiceJet and Gulf Air. This partnership will immensely benefit the two airlines and our passengers in times to come. These are exciting times for SpiceJet as we pursue our international expansion plan. We are developing an extensive portfolio of destinations both at home and in international markets. The Middle East has always been among our top priority markets. This agreement is going to play a very important role for SpiceJet's next phase of growth as we continue to explore the innumerable opportunities around us."

Gulf Air currently operates 82 weekly flights to eight destinations in India: Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Cochin, Hyderabad, Calicut and Bangalore. SpiceJet currently operates flights to more than 50 destinations within the Republic of India.

دلهي، جمهورية الهند في 20 نوفمبر 2019: تعتزم طيران الخليج - الناقلة الوطنية لمملكة البحرين - وسبايس جيت - شركة الطيران المحلية المفضلة في الهند - التعاون بشكلٍ أعمق في أعقاب توقيع الناقلتين على مذكرة للتفاهم في حفلٍ أقيم لهذه المناسبة في العاصمة الهندية، حضره كل من الرئيس التنفيذي لطيران الخليج السيد كريشمير كوتشكو، والسيد أجاي سينغ رئيس مجلس الادارة والمدير التنفيذي لسبايس جيت وعدد من المسئولين لدى الناقلتين. ويأتي التوقيع على مذكرة التفاهم هذه بين الناقلتين كبداية للتعاون بينهما، وكتوطيد للعلاقات التاريخية التي تربط بين مملكة البحرين وجمهورية الهند.

وعقّب السيد كوتشكو بهذه المناسبة بقوله "إنه لحدث تاريخي لكل من طيران الخليج و سبايس جيت حيث نعزز العلاقات التجارية بين الناقلتين؛ ونطرح المزيد من الخيارات لمسافرينا الأعزاء لاستكشاف مدن جديدة عبر شبكاتنا، حيث تنص مذكرة التفاهم هذه على توسيع رقعة التعاون فيما بين الناقلتين لتدشين اتفاقية للرمز المشترك لعمليات الطيران بين البحرين والهند. تربطنا علاقة عريقة بجمهورية الهند، ونشعر بالفخر للعمل عن قرب مع أصدقائنا في سبايس جيت."

من جانبه، أضاف السيد أجاي سينغ بقوله "أنا سعيد للغاية بتوقيع مذكرة التفاهم هذه وبداية هذه الشراكة الجديدة بين سبايس جيت وطيران الخليج. ستفيد هذه الشراكة بشكل كبير الناقلتين وركابهما قريباً، هذه مرحلة مهمة بالنسبة لنا ونحن نتابع خطتنا التوسعية الدولية. نحن نعمل على تطوير مجموعة واسعة من الوجهات محلياً ودولياً. لطالما كان الشرق الأوسط من بين أهم الأسواق لدينا حيث ستلعب هذه الاتفاقية دورًا مهمًا للغاية في المرحلة التالية من نمو سبايس جيت بينما نواصل استكشاف الفرص التي لا حصر لها من حولنا."

تسيّر طيران الخليج حالياً 82 رحلة أسبوعية إلى ثمان مدن هندية هي مومباي، ودلهي، وتشيناي، وثيروفانانثابورام، وكوتشين، وحيدر أباد، وكالكوت، وبانغلور. كما تسيّر سبايس جيت رحلاتها إلى اكثر من 50 وجهة داخل جمهورية الهند.
