easyJet to launch first international route from Jersey to Amsterdam

Direct News Source

easyJet has today announced it is expanding its Jersey network with the introduction of a summer service to Amsterdam - its first-ever international route from the Island. The new route will join existing services from Jersey to London Gatwick, London Luton, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow as well as summer routes to Edinburgh and Belfast.

The new summer service is scheduled to launch on 1 April 2023, operating twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Seats are now on sale at easyJet.com and via the mobile App, with fares starting from £24.99*.

The new route is expected to be popular amongst those looking to enjoy a break in one of Europe's most popular cities. With its picturesque canal network, rich history and buzzing cultural scene, the capital of the Netherlands is one of Europe's most vibrant cities. Offering everything from tranquil boat rides through tree-shaded canals to world-class art museums such as the Van Gogh Museum, home to the largest collection of works by Vincent Van Gogh in the world, it's not hard to see why Amsterdam is one of Europe's most popular city break destinations.

Those flying from Jersey for pleasure or business will also benefit from the Worldwide by easyJet connections service, which offers transatlantic connections via Amsterdam. With airline partners including Etihad and Icelandair, passengers can connect easyJet flights through Jersey via Amsterdam to the rest of the world.

The new route also marks the start of a five-year agreement which will see easyJet basing an aircraft in Jersey overnight from April 2023 and will enable the airline to provide customers in Jersey with a new convenient daily 7.10 am** departure from Jersey to London Gatwick, meaning the airline will offer up to five daily flights between Jersey and London from next summer and the option for longer day trips to London.

The airline will also be putting its autumn 2023 schedule on sale tomorrow, 8 December, meaning seats on tens of thousands of flights between 1 October and 30 November 2023, including for October Half Term, will be available to snap up early at low fares across the entire easyJet network.

Ali Gayward, easyJet's UK Country Manager, said:

"As the largest airline serving Jersey, we are delighted to further strengthen our network with the addition of our new route to Amsterdam, our very first international service from the airport, and to be bolstering our connections to London Gatwick with a new early morning/additional daily flight to serve our customers in Jersey with even greater connectivity.

"Alongside our existing range of domestic routes, we know this new service will prove to be a popular addition and provide customers with even more choice, all with great value fares and fantastic customer service.

"And with flights for autumn 2023 on sale tomorrow, customers can also book early for next autumn and snap up the best fares across our network to find a great-value getaway or October half term holiday."

Ports of Jersey's Chef Executive, Matt Thomas, commented:

"This new route is a major milestone for Jersey's connectivity, providing direct access for Islanders to the wonderful city of Amsterdam and a global travel hub. Ports of Jersey has been working hard to expand Jersey's connectivity with mainland Europe, and this route will not only strengthen connections for Islanders, it will also expand travel options for continental visitors wishing to visit our Island."

The Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture, Deputy Kirsten Morel, said:

"This is a fantastic announcement, providing more travel options for islanders and visitors. Jersey needs an environment that supports a sustainable, vibrant economy, and a growing network of European transport connections will improve resilience, expand choice for consumers, and facilitate new opportunities for business.

"Today's announcement is another sign of confidence in Jersey as an attractive destination and will be welcomed by Islanders. The enhanced connectivity will encourage investment and support our efforts to create an attractive and dynamic retail and tourism sector."

Flights are available to book from today on easyJet.com and via the app, with fares from Jersey to Amsterdam starting from £24.99*.
