On July 1st, 2018, officials from the Ministry of Tourism and the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority welcomed the new LIAT direct daily service from POS, Trinidad.

LIAT flight#395 originated in Guyana, departed POS, Trinidad at 8:00am with a non-stop service into Antigua arriving on-time at 10:00am. The two-hour flight returns same day as LIAT flight #396 and departs daily from Antigua for Trinidad at 5:10pm.

The arrival of this LIAT daily direct service from Port of Spain, is good news for consumers, as well as the travel trade in both destinations. Travelers from Trinidad to Antigua can now arrive early morning to conduct business and return the same day. With the direct daily leisure visitors will also have more options for short holiday stay-overs and getaways.

Trinidad and Tobago is a primary regional target market for Antigua and Barbuda and is one of Antigua and Barbuda's largest regional markets. With a population of approximately 1.7 million people; segmented with persons with high disposable income; as well as avid party-goers and travelers.

The service will greatly assist business travel, travel for medical services, visas, as well as, travel for Carnival between the two countries. Especially, considering the upcoming, Greatest Summer Festival - Antigua's Carnival.
"We welcome this direct daily service from LIAT from Trinidad and anticipate seeing direct benefits over the summer period with persons visiting for Antigua's Carnival," noted Minister of Tourism, Hon. Charles 'Max' Fernandez. "Additionally, as a regional hub we expect continued growth in air traffic between our two destinations and thank LIAT for continuing to be a cornerstone for inter-regional travel, working hard to bring more visitors to our beautiful shores".

This increase in regional service is a result of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority increasing destination awareness and promotions within the Trinidad and Tobago market, and improving its relationships with the travel trade, media, consumers and airline partners.

Over the years airlift connectivity has been a challenge between the two destinations, with limited direct service or daily flights. Hence the arrival of the LIAT POS-ANU direct daily service brings new possibilities and exciting opportunities for growth.
