CAPA Elevate set to drive innovation in aviation
CAPA Elevate is designed to showcase the most influential innovations transforming aviation in the next decade. In this unmissable session key stakeholders from select CAPA certified organisations will deliver overviews of their products or services and then face a panel of industry experts who will explore their real-world applications.
How it will work:

• Day two of each CAPA Summit will open with CAPA Elevate;
• Each supplier will be given a seven-minute time slot to showcase their innovation and explore how it is set to change the industry;
• An additional 8 minutes will be allotted for questions and answers from a panel of industry experts including Airline C-Suite Executives.

Showcasing innovation has always been at the forefront of CAPA’s event strategy, and in 2020 we continue to ensure key businesses are given a voice in the industry. Expect to hear from a wide variety of interesting speakers who are revolutionaries in their own right.

Creating a Truly Digital Airline to Seize Today's Opportunities
Making money – it starts with the ability to react quickly to the real-time environment, matching an offer to search. Real-time data is providing the opportunity to seize new revenue streams, but to airline systems hold carriers back from realising these gains? And for all the investment in digital technologies, pricing, yield management, next-gen distribution and more, are new problems emerging in the passenger experience? And can the simple things like getting timely access to gates at airports and other huge gaps in communications between operational and commercial silos any closer to being solved?

The Value of Alliances: Is there any truth to growing opinions that alliances are becoming outdated?

The proposed new tie-up between LATAM Airlines Group and Delta Air Lines shows a certain level of forward thinking by both major players. However, it also raises questions about the long term viability of the global alliance structure as LATAM exits oneworld and Delta’s partnership roster becomes more balanced between non-alliance members and SkyTeam airlines.

Delta is an anchor member of SkyTeam, and the airline's JV with its fellow alliance members Air France-KLM has been a success. But its tie-ups with GOL (which vanish, given its new partnership with LATAM), Virgin Atlantic and WestJet show that alliances do not offer the network breadth and depth that airlines operating in today’s global aviation industry need. Delta, in particular, needed a strong partner in Latin America.

This is not the first time the validity of alliances has been questioned. Earlier in the year Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker, spoke at the CAPA Qatar Aviation Aeropolitical and Regulatory Summit, where he stated the alliance system "is old fashioned", adding alliances are only "fashionable" and allow airlines to "burn miles on each other and use their lounges". Qatar Airways is the second largest ASK contributor to the oneworld alliance.

  • What is the future of global alliances?
  • Is a balance between non-alliance members and alliance members the only option?

Fragmentation
Ryanair once said that the Single Aviation Market was the key to success for its business model? And now it is operating with multiple AOCs. As is SAS and others. Is that really sustainable?
