About

Established in 1970, Viking Air was a global leader in utility aircraft services and a manufacturer of Series 400 and Guardian 400 Twin Otter aircraft. It was managed by parent company Longview Aviation Capital. In 2006, Viking acquired the Type Certificates for the entire line of de Havilland heritage aircraft, DHC-1 through DHC-7 as well as the Type Certificate for the Trident TR-1 Trigull. In 2016, Viking acquired the Type Certificates for the Canadair CL-215, CL215T, and CL-415 aircraft.

In Nov-2018, Longview Aviation Capital agreed to acquire, through an affiliate, the entire Dash 8 programme including the 100, 200 and 300 series and the in-production Q400 programme from Bombardier. Also included as part of the transaction are rights to the de Havilland name and trademark in an all-Canadian transaction. The acquisition was completed in Jun-2019 and Longview Aviation Capital placed the programme into a newly formed holding company called De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited. Longview Aviation Capital holds the Type Certificates for the entire original product line of the De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Company.

Viking Air merged into De Havilland Aircraft of Canada as of 01-Aug-2024.
