About

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited is an aircraft manufacturer based in Toronto, Canada. De Havilland Canada (DHC) was created in 1928 as a subsidiary by the British De Havilland Aircraft Company. In the 1980s, the government of Canada privatised DHC and sold the aircraft company to Boeing in 1986. DHC was acquired by Bombardier in 1992. In 2006, Viking Air acquired the Type Certificates for the entire line of de Havilland heritage aircraft, DHC-1 through DHC-7. In Jun-2019, parent company Longview Aviation Capital acquired the entire Dash 8 programme from Bombardier. Also included as part of the transaction were rights to the De Havilland name and trademark in an all-Canadian transaction. Longview Aviation Capital placed the programme into a newly formed holding company called De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited. Following Longview's formal acquisition of the Dash 8 programme, De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited will continue to produce, service and support Dash 8 and Q400 aircraft from the Downsview site in Toronto under land lease agreements which extend until 2023.
