About
Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is a government body responsible for marketing and promoting Thailand's tourism industry. According to the World Travel & Tourism Council, tourism represent 20.3% of total GDP (2014), with the contribution expected to rise by 6.4% per annum to 22.7% of total GDP in 2024. The Thai Government recognised the importance of tourism to the country's economy, and established the dedicated tourism organisation in 1960. TAT releases information and data on Thailand, aimed at encouraging both Thai and international tourists to travel in and around Thailand. Headquartered in Bangkok, the TAT has 27 offices across the world and 35 regional offices in Thailand.
