The project cost IDR107 billion (USD9.5 million). Previously access to the Mamasa district, situated in mountainous terrain, from the major centre of Makassar city in South Sulawesi took over eight hours using overland transport. With Sumarorong Airport operational, the same journey can now be expected to take one hour.
