Nelson Mandela International Airport serves the capital city of Praia, Cape Verde. The airport was inaugurated on 23-Oct-2005, and replaced the old Francisco Mendes International Airport. Cape Verde's Government renamed Praia International Airport after South Africa's former president Nelson Mandela in Jan-2012.
