Belo Horizonte Tancredo Neves International Airport
Tancredo Neves International Airport (also known as Confins International Airport) serves the southeastern Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais State and third largest metro area in Brazil. Tancredo Neves is Belo Horizonte's main gateway, located 35km north of the city centre in the suburb of Confins. The airport was underutilised after its construction in 1984, due to its distance from the city vis-a-vis the closer Pampulha Aiprort, though it eventually overtook the older facility once Pampulha was barred from handling aircraft with more than 50 seats in the mid-2000s. The airport was privatised in Dec-2013, and a concession agreement was signed (07-Apr-2014) with new operator BH Airport, a consortium of CCR, Flughafen Munich and Flughafen Zurich. State airport operator Infraero maintains a 49% stake in the facility.
