PEOPLExpress was an LCC based at Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport in the United States. The PEOPLExpress brand was previously used by a LCC from 1981 to 1987 before being absorbed by Continental Airlines. The carrier planned to replace lost services between Newport News and major cities, like Boston and New York, as well as capitalise on other underserved markets that have seen declines with consolidation of the airline industry. PEOPLExpress operated with Vision Airlines' Boeing 737-400 equipment. However on 26-Sep-2014, following three months of service, the carrier announced that it suspended services amid aircraft and crew availability and maintenance issues.
