Khonkaen Airlines is a proposed new Thai carrier to be based at Khon Kaen Airport. Thailand's Khon Kaen Chamber of Commerce, Laos' Phongsavanh Group and Singapore's Mekong Group signed a MoU to conduct a study on the potential launch to be registered in Thailand. The carrier will operate aircraft provided by Phongsavanh Group, with Boeing 737 and 777 aircraft under consideration. Initial services would connect Khon Kaen with destinations in the Mekong River region, China and elsewhere in Asia. The study will cover legal and regulatory issues and is expected to be complete in six months. A proposed launch date for Khonkaen Airlines has not been advised.
