About

Bishwo Airways is a privately owned Nepalese start-up that planned to commence operations in 2015. The full-service carrier intends to base itself at Kathmandu Tribhuvan Airport, providing services to destinations in India, China, Japan, Malaysia Saudi Arabia and the UK. A revised launch date has not been specified. Bishwo Airways will initially utilise two Airbus A330-200 aircraft purchased outright at the 2014 Farnborough Airshow, configured in a 30 business class and 220 economy class seating configuration. On 19-Feb-2015, the carrier also signed a LoI for the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft. The aircraft will be used to develop domestic and regional markets and will feature a two-class layout seating 93 passengers, with the first aircraft to be delivered in 2017. In its first year, the start-up intends to launch daily Kathmandu-Damman service along with a five-times weekly service to Kuala Lumpur. By its second year, the carrier hopes to commence three-times weekly service to Beijing, China as well as to Narita Airport, Japan, either via Seoul or direct. Bishwo Airways is owned by Bishwo Holdings, a diversified Nepalese investment holding company based in Singapore.
