AVA Airways is a Caribbean start-up seeking to commence full service operations from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. AVA Airways was established by the founders of failed Jamaican start-up Ava Transportation, who opted to relocate their AVA brand to Curaçao due to the country's favourable location and bilateral status. However, Curaçao rejected the carrier's air service permit application in 2014, and again in 2015. AVA signed a USD65 million agreement with Capital Partners in Dec-2016 to initiate operations from the Dominican Republic. The new airline plans to serve the Caribbean as well as countries in mainland South America. AVA Airways planned to commence operations on 16-Mar-2017, with Martinique-Saint Martin Esperance service using Jetstream 32 aircraft. A revised launch date has not been advised.
