Austral Líneas Aereas (Austral) was a regional airline based at Jorge Newbery Airport in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The airline operated to domestic and regional destinations, using a fleet of MD-80 and Embraer E190 aircraft. Austral was a subsidiary of Argentinian national carrier Aerolineas Argentinas and was owned by the Argentinean State.
On 05-May-2020, Aerolineas Argentinas Group announced the merger between Aerolineas Argentinas and Austral, a decision attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 30-Nov-2020, Aerolineas Argentinas received certification from Argentina ANAC allowing Aerolineas Argentinas and Austral to operate as one. From 01-Dec-2020 all services will be operated under the Aerolineas Argentinas brand.
