About
Atlantic Star Airlines, also known as A-Star, is a proposed UK based start-up founded by former British Airways pilots. The carrier initially planned to launch direct charter Saint Helena-London Luton service from mid Mar-2016, following the completion of New Saint Helena Airport. Atlantic Star Airlines received a notification from the St Helena Government their new airport will open, at least, in May-2016. However, delays in construction and windshear issues at the airport have forced Atlantic Star Airlines to postpone its service launch. Atlantic Star Airlines revised its schedule operations, with plans to launch services to St Helena via Ascension Islands using Avro RJ100 equipment - an aircraft capable of handling turbulent conditions. The carrier conducted an inaugural flight with 16 non-commercial passengers on 21-Oct-2016. Atlantic Star has not specified when it is expected to commence commercial service.
