Winnipeg Airports Authority CEO Update

Barry Rempel:You know, actually, it's really interesting to see what the market response to NewLeaf has been. It is— Canada is actually one of, if not the last, of the major G20 countries that does not have an ultra-low-cost carrier. So this is a bit of a new venture for Canada. not just for Winnipeg, and I'm really pleased with the response that we've seen from the community. I'm as pleased with the response we've seen from our existing carriers to, you know, to the new market entry. It is all just really good news for the consumer. Actually, WestJet's new service has been one of those that has just taken off, both figuratively and literally. It's an exciting time, obviously, in our market. Just a lot going on, and every one of those flights are going out very full. We're very pleased with the market response. What it's showing is, is that the community has sufficient demand that it'll be a really good, really good benefit for our economy. WestJet's proposed— or the service that we have today is seasonal. It is very— it's having such a wonderful response though that WestJet are looking right now at what is the right time to either go full-time seasonal, or to use that aircraft into another destination that would be the opposite season for now. So typically a sun destination of some sort on a scheduled basis. Either way, it's good news for our community. Well, you know, it's a really good question. The market out of Winnipeg has some very strong demand for parts of Asia-Pacific in particular. And the issue that we continue to face is the regulatory environment and what carriers are actually allowed to fly into Canada, and as importantly, you know, what are the fifths that go with that that would allow it to be successful. The demand, again, is there, similar, in fact greater demand for some markets in Asia-Pacific than London, and we've already shown what London can do when the service is provided.
