The Nuance Group and TBI in New Cooperation - Cardiff Contract Extended to 2012

Analysis

The Nuance Group and world wide airport owner, manager and developer TBI plc have agreed to work in close cooperation in the future. In a first step, The Nuance Group has been granted a five year extension for its Cardiff concession, which was due to expire at the end of 2007.

Putting behind them their differences of opinion on the early termination of the Belfast contract, The Nuance Group and TBI, under its new ownership, have agreed an amicable solution to the dispute and have developed a partnership model to team up for the future.

In a mutual initiative, agreement was reached for the duty-free concession at Cardiff Airport, currently operated by The Nuance Group, to be extended for five years to the end of 2012. In addition, Nuance and TBI are discussing ways in which to cooperate at other airports managed by TBI.

Roberto Graziani, President and CEO of The Nuance Group, commented on this partnership approach: "Our relationship with TBI is a good example of what can be achieved if two parties meet with the clear intention of finding a win-win solution. In the course of our discussions it has become clear that we share a common view on what airport retailing should be about. This has led us to adopt a partnership approach which we expect will produce outstanding opportunities for the future".

Miquel Puig, Chairman of TBI plc, added: "We are delighted with the new spirit of cooperation with The Nuance Group, with whom we look forward to a long and fruitful working relationship".
