Tiger has continued its rapid growth in Australia in recent weeks, announcing plans to develop Sydney Airport into a “virtual base”, further expanding capacity at Melbourne Tullamarine Airport and increasing its Australian fleet. The moves reinforce Tiger’s shift away from its initial plans to concentrate on regional routes to concentrating on high-traffic routes, tackling Jetstar, Qantas and Virgin Blue routes.
