easyJet and Ryanair express doubts over new airport licensing system: easyJet

Premium Analysis

easyJet CEO, Andy Harrison and Ryanair CEO, Michael O'Leary have both expressed their doubts in UK Department of Transport's plans to introduce a new airport licensing system to improve passenger services. The new system will allow the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) the power to set operating standards. Both CEOs believe the CAA is not capable of controlling UK airports, with O'Leary stated the most effective way to put passengers first would be to let go of the CAA altogether. Meanwhile, Harrison stated a proper appeals process is required and the Competition Commission should be utilised more in airport control.
