Japan to lead liberalisation push?

Premium Analysis

The momentum for intra-Asian aviation liberalisation has suffered

a set-back with confirmation Singapore and Malaysia would not move to open access

on the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur route ahead of the ASEAN ‘capital city’

liberalisation deadline by the end of 2008. The move has provided further breathing

space for Malaysia Airlines to complete its restructuring plan. (MAS will unveil

its third consecutive quarterly profit later this month).
