Etihad Airways weighs-in to Middle East ordering avalanche

Premium Analysis

The aviation industry in the Middle East has not been known for doing things by halves in recent years. Dubai has the world's largest airport under construction, and more than USD60 billion is being invested in airports across the region. Emirates and Qatar Airways have more than 400 widebodies on order between them, and when Dubai Aerospace (DAE) opened its order book last year, to kick of its DAE Capital leasing arm, it was with orders for 200 aircraft. USD200 billion is being invested in going into infrastructure and tourism development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi alone.
