International pax to/from Australia up 9% in May-2013, capacity (seats) up 8%
Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (01-Aug-2013) the following international traffic highlights to/from Australia in May-2013:

- Flights: 13,155, +5.9%;
- Cargo volume: 73,093 tonnes, +3.0%;
- Aircraft movements: 13,831, +4.4%;

- Emirates: 9.7%, +1.4 ppts;
- Singapore Airlines: 8.8%, -0.6 ppt;
- Virgin Australia: 8.5%, -0.4 ppt;
- Jetstar: 7.4%, -0.6 ppt;
- Air New Zealand: 7.1%, -0.6 ppt;
- Cathay Pacific: 4.6%, -0.1 ppt;
- Malaysia Airlines: 4.2%, +0.6 ppt;
- AirAsia X: 3.3%, +0.3 ppt;
- Thai Airways: 3.0%, -0.6 ppt;

BITRE also reported (01-Aug-2013) LCCs - AirAsia X, Indonesia AirAsia, Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, Tiger Airways and Scoot accounted for 13.9% of total international passenger traffic to/from Australia in May-2013. The LCC share in May-2012 was 12.6%. The Qantas group - Qantas Airways (17.2%), Jetstar (7.4%) and JetstarAsia (0.4%) accounted for 25% of total passenger carriage in May-2013.The group's share in May-2012 was 26.7%. [more - original PR]
