Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (04-Nov-2013) the following international traffic highlights to/from Australia in Aug-2013:

• Passenger numbers: 2.6 million, +9.4% year-on-year;
• Available seats: 3.6 million, +7.4%;
• Flights: 14,403, +6.8%;
• Cargo volume: 75,649 tonnes, +0.2%;
• Aircraft movements: 15,092, +5.3%;
• Top 10 international carriers:

• • Qantas: 16.6%,-0.5 ppt;
  • Emirates: 9.1%, +1.0 ppts;
  • Singapore Airlines: 8.7%, +0.1 ppt;
  • Virgin Australia: 8.5%, -0.2 ppt;
  • Air New Zealand: 7.7%, -0.5 ppt;
  • Jetstar: 7.4%, -1.3 ppt;
  • Cathay Pacific: 4.6%, -0.3 ppt;
  • Malaysia Airlines: 4.2%, +0.7 ppt;
  • AirAsia X: 3.4%, +0.6 ppt;
  • Thai Airways: 3.3%, -0.2 ppt;

BITRE also reported (04-Nov-2013) LCCs - AirAsia X, Indonesia AirAsia, Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, Tigerair and Scoot accounted for 14.1% of total international passenger traffic to/from Australia in Aug-2013. The LCC share in Aug-2012 was 14.6%.
