International pax to/from Australia up 12% to 2.7m in Apr-2015, capacity (Seats) up 8% to 3.6m
Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (01-Jul-2015) the following international traffic highlights to/from Australia in Apr-2015:
- Passenger numbers: 2.7 million, +12.1% year-on-year;
- Available seats: 3.6 million, +7.5%;
- Flights: 14,359, +6.6%;
- Cargo volume: 75,741 tonnes, +9.5%;
- Aircraft movements: 14,714, +4.4%;

- Jetstar: 9.3%, +1.7 ppt;

- Virgin Australia: 7.3%, -0.1 ppt;
- Cathay Pacific Airways: 5.6%, +0.5 ppt;
- Malaysia Airlines: 4.4%, -0.2 ppt;
- Thai Airways: 2.7%, stable;
- AirAsia X: 2.7%, -2.0 ppts;

BITRE also reported LCCs AirAsia X, Cebu Pacific Air, Indonesia AirAsia, Indonesia AirAsia Extra, Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, and Scoot accounted for 15.7% of total international passenger traffic to/from Australia in Apr-2015. LCC share in Apr-2014 was 15.5%.
