La Chinita Airport serves Venezuela's second city of Maracaibo and is the second busiest airport in the country, after the capital's Caracas Simon Bolivar International Airport. The airport offers domestic connections through national carriers Conviasa, Aeropostal and Aserca, while international connections are offered by an assortment of Latin American and Caribbean carriers, with American Airlines linking the city with Miami. The airport is a focus city for national carrier Conviasa, and is the hub for LCC Venezolana. La Chinita is operated by state-owned Bolivariana de Aeropuertos (BAER).
Modernisation works were recently completed on terminal faciltiies, with further infrastructure upgrade works planned.
