About
Established in 1989, Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) is a privately-owned airline based at Malé International Airport in the Maldives. The carrier operates scheduled and charter island-hopping services, as well as picnic and scenic services.
On 18-Dec-2017, Bain Capital Private Equity (Bain Capital) formed a consortium to acquire TMA from a private equity firm. The Bain Capital-led consortium includes Shenzhen Tempus Global Business Services Holdings Ltd (Tempus Global) and TBRJ Fund 1 L.P. Bain Capital, which is headquartered in the US, will own approximately 80% of TMA.
