About

The European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) was founded in 1963 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. EUROCONTROL has additional units in France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic and Germany. The organisation represents the core of the European air traffic management system. The inter-governmental agency is responsible for coordinating the efforts of Air Navigation Service Providers from its 41 member states and aims to promote a seamless air traffic management system across the European Union Area. EUROCONTROL is continuing its focus on supporting aviation stakeholders to implement the Single European Sky (SES), a project first launched in 1999, which moves away from airspace management as defined by national boundaries, to one that centres around a coordinated approach, utilising 'functional airspace blocks'.

Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC) is a non-profit air navigation service provider, operated by EUROCONTROL on behalf of four states – Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. MUAC is organised on a multinational, cross-border basis, controlling airspace above Benelux and north-west Germany.
