Virgin Atlantic Airways reports GBP80m operating loss in FY2012

Virgin Atlantic Airways revenue up 3% - financial highlights for 12 months ended 29-Feb-2012:

  • Revenue: GBP2740 million, +3% year-on-year;
    • Cargo: GBP239.6 million, +7%;
  • Air Passenger Duty: GBP195 million, +25%;
  • Operating profit (loss): (GBP80.2 million);
  • Cash: GBP486.7 million;
  • Passenger numbers: 5.4 million, +2%;
  • Load factor: 78%;
  • 1QFY2013 forecast:
    • Revenue: GBP481.9 million, +5.8%;
    • Operating costs: Reduce by GBP50 million;
    • Passenger numbers: 1.3 million, +2.3%;
    • Load factor: 77%;
