US Travel Association to help reform visa process

US Travel Association announced a plan to help reform the visa process that could add USD859 billion to the US economy by 2020 through an increase in overseas tourism (Reuters, 13-May-2011). Surveys by USTA state the main reason travellers avoid the US is the visa process and strict security.

USTA: "The challenge we have is the unnecessary, burdensome US visa system. It's really self-imposed barriers that we put on ourselves as a country that have caused us to lose international travel and that have stymied international growth." President Roger Dow. Source: Reuters, 13-May-2011.
