US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) stated (16-Nov-2010) US passenger airline employment levels fell 0.6% year-on-year in Sep-2010. Details include:

  • Full-time-equivalent employee levels:
    • Network: +0.3%;
    • LCCs: +2.7%;
    • Regional: -6.6%;
  • Details of US network airlines’ full-time-equivalent employee levels include:
    • Delta: 75,800, +67.2%;
    • American: 65,400, -3.5%;
    • United: 43,600, -1.8%;
    • Continental: 32,600, -2.4%;
    • US Airways: 29,400, -3%;
  • Details of US low-cost airlines’ full-time-equivalent employee levels include:
    • Southwest: 34,836, +0.1%;
    • JetBlue: 11,100, +3%;
    • AirTran: 7742, +0.3%;
    • Frontier:  4976, +16.3%;
