Background ✨
Volaris' shareholders approved the Viva tie-up with 91.8% support, including issuing new shares to Viva shareholders for a 50% fully diluted stake and appointing Enrique Javier Beltranena Mejicano and Juan Carlos Zuazua Cosío as co-CEOs, subject to regulatory clearances and other conditions1. Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum said the National Antitrust Commission would review the proposed holding-company airline group2. CAPA noted the merger aimed to create scale and lower aircraft ownership costs, with Mexico's market growing to nearly 120 million passengers in 20243.
