US DoT and FAA order 10% reduction in traffic at 40 airports
US Department of Transportation (DoT) Secretary Sean Duffy and US FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford confirmed (07-Nov-2025) plans to implement a temporary reduction in flights at 40 high traffic airports across the US. A 4% reduction in operations will take effect from 07-Nov-2025, increasing to up to 6% by 11-Nov-2025, 8% by 13-Nov-2025 and 10% by 14-Nov-2025. The FAA will also prohibit some visual flight rule approaches at facilities with staffing triggers. Mr Bedford stated: "What we have been monitoring on a daily basis, frankly, hourly basis, is looking at all of the metrics that we use to surveil the NAS and its health and its wellbeing". The following airports will be impacted:
