US carriers forced to cancel more than 2000 services in north-east

US carriers were forced to cancel more than 2000 services in the north-east due to the third snowstorm this month (MarketWatch/AP, 27-Jan-2011). On 27-Jan-2011, John F Kennedy Airport and Newark International in New Jersey were closed around midnight and re-opened at 10:30 and 10:00, respectively. LaGuardia remained open with cancellations and delays. South Florida was also affected as all three airports in the region reported extensive cancellations and delays, with most for services on the Washington-New York-New England corridor.
