US BTS reports stable passenger numbers in Aug-2011
US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reports (17-Nov-2011) the following total system (domestic and international) traffic results for US airlines in Aug-2011:
- Passenger numbers: 66.2 million, -0.1% year-on-year;
- Passenger traffic (RPMs): +0.6%;
- Capacity (ASMs): +0.3%;
- Load factor: 85.6%, +0.3 ppt;
According to BTS, Delta Air Lines was the largest US airline, by total scheduled system enplanements in Aug-2011. The top 10 airlines are as follows:
- Delta: 10.7 million, +2.7%;
- Southwest: 9.6 million, +1.1%;
- American: 7.6 million, -0.9%;
- United: 4.8 million, -6.0%;
- US Airways: 4.6 million, -0.9%;
- Continental: 4.1 million, +3.0%;
- JetBlue: 2.4 million, +3.6%;
- AirTran: 2.3 million, -0.2%;
- Skywest: 2.2 million, -3.7%;
