US BTS reports 1.2% rise in passenger numbers in Sep-2011
US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reports (08-Dec-2011) the following total system (domestic and international) traffic results for US airlines in Sep-2011:
- Passenger numbers: 58 million, +1.2% year-on-year;
- Passenger traffic (RPMs): +1.6%;
- Capacity (ASMs): +0.5%;
- Load factor: 81.9%, +0.9 ppt.
According to BTS, Delta Air Lines was the largest US airline, by total scheduled system enplanements in Sep-2011. The top 10 airlines are as follows:
- Delta: 9.2 million, +1.8%;
- Southwest Airlines: 8.8 million, +5.3%;
- American Airlines: 6.9 million, +2.3%;
- US Airways: 4.1 million, -2.2%;
- United: 4.1 million, -6.9%;
- Continental: 3.4 million, +4.1%;
- JetBlue: 2.0 million, +7.8%;
- Skywest: 2.0 million, -1.3%;
- AirTran: 1.8 million, -2.8%;
