US Airways sees opportunities for industry consolidation

US Airways Chairman and CEO, Doug Parker, stated the carrier sees opportunities to participate in industry consolidation despite walking away from merger discussions with United Airlines (Financial Times, 27-Apr-2010). Mr Parker added that he does not believe that "the door will be closed on future consolidation" with his company, although he declined to name potential partners. Mr Parker also stated any merger between its Star Alliance partners, Continental and United, would make greater collaboration "more complex" but US Airways remained committed to the Star Alliance.
