UNWTO: 'Business as usual' will not meet the sector's goals
UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) secretary-general Zurab Pololikashvili, addressing the 23rd Session of the UNWTO General Assembly, said (11-Sep-2019) a 'business as usual' attitude in the sector "will not drive the change we want to see" and the tourism sector "needs to reflect the realities of a changing world". Mr Pololikashvili said this means "promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship", "training people for the jobs of tomorrow" and "being open to innovation, including the power of technology to change the way we travel - and how the benefits that tourism can bring are shared as widely as possible".
