Headquartered in Madrid, United Nations Tourism, formerly United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), aims to promote tourism related services and products, geared at providing economic growth, inclusive development and environmental sustainability. The government agency also undertakes tourism education, training as well as technical assistance projects worldwide. UNWTO’s membership includes 156 countries, six associate members and over 450 affiliate members representing the private sector, educational institutions, tourism associations and local tourism authorities.
