United Airlines expects 2Q2016 unit revenue to decline, impacted by strong US dollar

United Airlines stated (08-Jun-2016) it continues to expect 2Q2016 consolidated passenger unit revenue to decline 6.5% to 8.5% year-over-year, affected by a strong US dollar, lower surcharges, a reduction in travel demand impacted by declining oil prices, competitive actions and passenger demand not growing at the same pace as industry capacity. The carrier also expects an average price of USD1.41 to USD1.46 per gallon of fuel in 2Q2016, excluding hedges, and an estimated average price of USD1.45 to USD1.50 per gallon fuel including all cash-settled hedges.
