United Airlines and US Airways open to mergers

United Airlines Chief Financial Officer, Kathryn Mikells, has reportedly stated the carrier is open to merging with US or foreign carriers, but is currently pursuing additional alliances (Reuters, 23-Feb-2010). US Airways is also reportedly open to the possibility of a merger, according to Chief Financial Officer, Derek Kerr, but only with a US carrier.
